Physical Fitness Initiative

Fillmore Central Schools will be focusing on physical activity for our 2nd semester Wellness Initiative. Studies show kids who get daily physical activity perform better on tests, attend school more often, and behave better in class.

This initiative is meant to educate and help encourage students (and staff) to make extra efforts to move more throughout our day. Some students are already extremely active during and outside of school, however, many are less so. Helping all children find ways they can have fun while being active throughout their lives is our ultimate goal for building a healthy future for our community.

The education portion of the initiative will take place at school. On three consecutive Wednesdays, starting March 13, each PRIDE will be spending time learning more about physical activity, how to fit it into their already busy schedule, and resources for physical activity opportunities in the community.

Students will also receive a Physical Activity Challenge calendar. Students who complete a minimum of 13 of the 16 days will get their name in to a prize drawing. Feel free to join in and complete this challenge as a family. Completed calendars will need to be turned into the front office by April 4 .

We encourage you to continue the conversation at home. The links below will direct you to helpful handouts about physical activity as well as ways to be active as a family. We will also be posting some great educational links on our webpage under the Wellness Policy tab.

Thanks as always for working as a team with us in building a bright future for your student.
