The Fillmore Central Elementary library is now coded to effectively support your student in choosing the 'Just Right' book. We remember the 'Goldilocks Rule', not too hard, not too easy, but a just right book for them to read. For many years, this has been something that we have all been looking for ways to support students in this task. We are using the Lexile coding system, as we have access to individual Lexile levels through our MAP test results. We are able to assign a student to a specific color(s) that they will then be guided to find a book in that color area. There is also a great website for you to use at home to find books at your child's Lexile level AND in their area of interest (www.fab.lexile.com). You can also use this website to look up the Lexile level of books you have at home. The Lexile Levels and Colors are as follows:
420-490=Red
491-560=Orange
561-630=Yellow
631-700=Light Green
701-780=Dark Green
781-850=Blue
851-925=Pink
926+ =Black
