The Nebraska Aviation Trades Association offers a $500 and a $1000 scholarship to any senior planning to continue their education after high school. The application must include an endorsement or written recommendation signed by a voting or associate member of the Nebraska Aviation Trades Association. The Lincoln Community Foundation is offering the Dohn J. Theobald Scholarship. Applicants must be current graduating seniors from a public or private high school in Nebraska. Preference will be given to those who attend Fillmore Central High School in Nebraska. Applicants must have maintained a high school 3.0 GPA or above. Applicants must enroll full-time in a Nebraska university or college. Applicants must pledge to abstain from using tobacco or any illegal drugs. The Geneva Chapter O PEO is offering a $500 scholarship to any senior entering any field of higher learning with first priority given to a student entering Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri. The scholarship money will be available the second semester of the first year of college. The application was emailed to all seniors. Deadline is March 20, 2021.

The York Elks Lodge sponsors several scholarships for seniors. The selection is based on financial need, academics, activities, and leadership. Application information is available in the counselor’s office. Deadline is March 22, 2021.

The Farmers and Merchants Bank, through the Exeter Feeders and Breeders Association, will offer a $1000.00 scholarship to a senior who has evidence of community involvement relating to agriculture and shown leadership in advanced coursework & extracurricular activities. The Nebraska Press Association is offering $2,000 in scholarships to seniors who plan to major in print journalism and attend a Nebraska college. The applicant should have good scholastic standing and good citizenship in the school and the community. Applications are available at www.nebpress.com.Deadline is March 26, 2021.

The Nebraska Actuaries Club is offering several scholarships to high school seniors who will major in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or Economics with an interest in pursuing an actuarial career. Applicants must demonstrate mathematical ability. Two $4,000 scholarships are available for students attending any of the three University of Nebraska campuses. One $2,000 scholarship is available for students attending any college or university in the state of Nebraska. Students may apply online at n-a-c.org. The Farmers' Cooperative in Dorchester sponsors a scholarship for students who plan to major in agriculture or an agriculture-related field and whose parents must be active members of the Farmers' Cooperative. The Lincoln Builders Bureau offers a $750 scholarship to an employee or a child of an employee. The applicant must pursue a focus of study in construction science and/or any of the trades associated with construction science. The Johnny Baxter Carriage House Foundation sponsors scholarships for seniors who plan to attend a Nebraska Community College to study in an automotive related field. Application information is available in the counselor’s office. Deadline is April 2, 2021.

The Nebraska Coaches Association of Nebraska & Country Inn & Suites offers several $1000 scholarships for senior student athletes that are in the top 25% of their class, have a minimum 24 ACT Composite Score, have participated in two sports for at least two years, and lettered in two sports. The Nebraska Cooperative Council Education Foundation will provide up to seven scholarships for students planning to attend UNL or NCTA and major in agribusiness. The applicants must be a son or daughter of a parent/legal guardian who has been an active member, director, or employee of an education cooperative. The James M. Cox Foundation offers a scholarship for seniors based on academics, financial need, and potential to succeed with their higher education plans. The application is available in the counselor’s office. Deadline is April 15, 2021.

The Student-View Scholarship Program offers scholarship money to seniors who complete a 15–20-minute application survey about colleges in the area. To complete the application survey, go to www.student-view.com.The scholarship will be awarded via a random drawing of all completed applications. The deadline is April 22, 2021.

The Upper Big Blue NRD is offering the Raymond A. Burke Scholarship of $2000 to a senior who resides in the District to be used for their college/university education with a study emphasis in natural resources. The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation offers scholarships for children of

Active duty or reserve U.S. Marine

  • Veteran U.S. Marine who has received an honorable discharge, or who was killed while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps

  • Active duty or reserve U.S. Navy Corpsman who is serving, or has served, with a U.S. Marine unit

  • Veteran U.S. Navy Corpsman who served with a U.S. Marine unit and has received an honorable discharge, or was killed while serving in the U.S. Navy as a Corpsman attached to a Marine unit

  • Applicants must have a GPA of at least 2.00 (on a 4.00 scale)

The National & Nebraska American Legion as well as the National and Nebraska American Legion Auxiliary organizations offers several scholarships with various deadlines. Two scholarships worth noting are the Jim Hurlbert Memorial Baseball Scholarship & the Maynard Jensen Memorial Scholarship. The Ohiowa Chamber of Commerce offers a $400 scholarship for seniors. Applicants must have some type of affiliation with Ohiowa. Application information is available in the counselor’s office. Deadline is March 1, 2021.

The Central Nebraska Senior Golf Association offers two $1000 scholarships for seniors who have participated in their high school golf team. These scholarships will be awarded to one male and one female high school senior. The application was emailed to all seniors. Deadline is March 1, 2021.

The Little Blue Natural Resources District offers three $500 scholarships to seniors who plan to attend a two or four-year college pursuing a conservation or environmental degree. Applications are available at www.littlebluenrd.org.Deadline is March 1, 2021.

The Better Business Bureau Foundation serving Nebraska is offering a $2000 scholarship to seniors who personify trust, fairness, leadership, community service, humility, courage, compassion, and respect. Application information is available at www.bbb.org/nebraska.Deadline is March 12, 2021.

The Nebraska Czechs of York offer a $300 scholarship to high school seniors of Czech or Slovak ancestry. The application was emailed to all seniors. The Lincoln Community Foundation offers more than 50 scholarships for students. Application information is available at https://lcf.academicworks.com/.Deadline is March 15, 2021.

Cornerstone Bank offers a $1000.00 scholarship. Cornerstone Bank employees and their immediate family are not eligible to apply. Finalists may be contacted for an interview. Application information was emailed to all seniors. Deadline is March 15, 2021.

The Central Nebraska Auto Club offers a scholarship for seniors who plan to pursue a college degree and career in an auto-related field. The applicants must plan to attend a Nebraska college, be a Nebraska resident and a United States Citizen. See Mrs. Betts for an application. Deadline is March 25, 2021.

The Nebraska Society of Mayflower Descendants offers the $500 Burt & Becky Whedon Memorial Scholarship. Applicants must plan to attend a 4-year college or university but do not need to have Mayflower ancestry. The James Leslie Stephenson Memorial Agriculture Scholarship is available to students who are residents of Fillmore County. The $2,000 scholarship will be awarded after the student’s completion of his/her first year of college/university coursework. Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 GPA, include 2 letters of recommendation and complete an application. Applications were emailed to all seniors. Deadline is April 1, 2021.

The Mary Ann Najmon Memorial Scholarship is being offered for Fillmore Central seniors interested in pursuing a nursing degree. Additional information is available in the counselor’s office. Deadline is April 15, 2021.

The Fillmore County 4-H Council will award two $500 scholarships. Applicants need to be currently enrolled in the Fillmore County 4-H program and have participated in the program for a minimum of five years. The scholarship may be used for any field of study, at any post-secondary institution. Application information may be found at fillmore.unl.edu. Deadline is January 11, 2021.

The Nebraska Poultry Education Committee is offering scholarships for seniors planning to attend college in Nebraska and pursue poultry-based career. Application information is available at https://form.jotform.com/93024679050153.Deadline is January 20, 2021.

The Jackie Robinson Foundation offers scholarships for seniors who plan to attend an accredited four-year institution, show leadership potential, dedicated to community service, have financial need and have a minimum ACT Composite Score of 21. The Nebraska Rural Community Schools Association offers two scholarships. One scholarship is for a senior planning to become a teacher. Applicants must have a minimum 3.5 GPA and have a minimum 22 ACT Composite Score. The other scholarship is for a senior who excels in the fine arts and is planning to major in fine arts in college. Southeast Community College Foundation offers scholarships for students planning to attend any of their three campuses. The application may be accessed at www.southeast.edu/scholarships.The application is available from December 1, 2020 to March 1, 2021.

The Fillmore County Hospital Auxiliary offers a $1000 scholarship for students who are planning to pursue a degree and career in the health care field. Application information was emailed to all seniors. Deadline is March 15, 2021.

The Set Me Free Project and the family of Sydney Loofe are offering the Sydney Loofe Memorial Scholarship for seniors who have a 3.0 GPA or higher and plan to study in the areas of sociology, criminal justice, social work, online safety, countering human trafficking, cyber safety or a degree that will make a difference in the lives of others. The Nebraska Association of Fair Managers will award the Martha and Don Romeo Scholarships. They will award a $500 scholarship to one qualifying 4-H male and a $500 scholarship to one qualifying 4-H female who are seniors in the State of Nebraska and plan to attend a 2 year or 4-year college. Applicants must have exhibited their 4-H projects in a County Fair or at the State Fair within the last four years. The Warren & Velda Wilson Foundation offers several $1250 scholarships to seniors planning to attend any college or university in Nebraska, who demonstrate good citizenship, are involved in school and community activities, and have the potential for future academic success. The Norma Ross Walter Scholarship Program of the Willa Cather Foundation offers a scholarship to female graduates of Nebraska High Schools who are planning to enroll as English majors in an accredited college or university. The Acacia Fraternity offers scholarships for incoming male freshmen at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln who display excellence in academics, have motivation for personal success with an interest in developing and applying leadership skills. The Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation provides scholarships for seniors with a minimum 2.0 GPA for tuition and fees up to $5000 per semester at any Nebraska public universities, colleges, or community colleges. The Willa Cather Foundation is sponsoring the $1000 Antonette Willa Skupa Turner Scholarship. Blue Valley Community Action Partnership (BVCA) is offering $500 scholarships for seniors who have a financial need. The Midwest Student Exchange Program is an interstate initiative that enables Nebraska students to enroll at reduced tuition levels in participating colleges in Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, and Missouri. Additional information is available at msep.mhec.org.

RHOP (Rural Health Opportunities Program) is a full-tuition scholarship opportunity designed for Wayne State College students pursuing a career in Medical Lab Science, Dentistry, Dental Hygiene, Medicine, Nursing, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant, Radiography or Pharmacy and planning to practice in a rural Nebraska setting (December 1, 2020 deadline).RHOP is also offered through Chadron State College in the areas of Medical Lab Science, Dentistry, Dental Hygiene, Medicine, Nursing, Physical Therapy, Pharmacy, Physician Assistant, and Radiography (December 1, 2020 deadline).
