Striv Education

Each year as the seasons of each sport wind down, the Striv Education company usually gets a piece of the broadcasting contracts for postseason play. As Striv does best, they incorporate students from across the state of Nebraska to assist and run those postseason broadcasts with the assistance of the Striv Education experts leading and guiding them into the ever-changing world of broadcasting.

Fillmore Central has been with Striv for the last 11 years, which was towards the
beginning. Striv Education Owner, Taylor Siebert, approached FC and some
students about starting this up for our school, and it has since grown into a pretty large
following for the Fillmore Central School District.

This past year, several students from Fillmore Central have gotten the opportunity to
broadcast postseason events in each season, including State Softball, State Volleyball, and now
State Basketball.

Seniors Ty Schelkopf and Bret Dunker have ran Striv for softball the past several years
and have found their niche in the game, announcing, running the scoreboard and camera. The
past 2 years they have had the privilege from Striv Education to go to Hastings and run the
broadcast for a field for a day of State Softball. The day consisted of 6 games on one of the
fields. Ty Schelkopf announced play by play, while Bret Dunker helped with color commentary
while also running the computer and scoreboard.

A few weeks later, Striv Education had the opportunity to broadcast the opening rounds
of State Volleyball. Striv sent a correspondence asking if Fillmore Central had any students
interested in broadcasting these games. The Panther Striv crew was able to bring several students that day, including our current volleyball announcers and some current volleyball players to announce the games. These students this year included: Michael Anderson, Ty Schelkopf, Brenner McCann-Coen, Bret Dunker, Addison Ekeler, Hadley and MaKenna McCoy.

As the basketball season was winding down, Striv Education once again had the
opportunity to broadcast the first two rounds of State Basketball at PBA and Devaney. Striv
Education sent out a form asking for full crews to come and work these games. A full crew
consisted of the following: two announcers, main camera, iso camera, floor camera, scoreboard
operator, computer producer, and camera director. Fillmore Central was able to fill those roles
for the Thursday morning session of D1 basketball. Fillmore Central’s longtime basketball
announcer Brady Engle was able to work with our crew that day, and Michael Anderson
provided color commentary for those games. Waylon Rayburn ran the scoreboard for the
games, with Brenner McCann-Coen running the main camera, Ty Schelkopf running the ISO
camera, and Peyton Komenda running the floor camera. Mr. Dahl ran the computer and
produced the event, while Bret Dunker was the Director in charge and ran the production,
switching between live cameras and running the replay.
