Nebraska FFA Chapter Officer Leadership Training (COLT) was held at The Leadership Center in Aurora on May 17-18, 2024.  Fillmore Central FFA advisor Kurt VanDeWalle and the 2024-2025 Fillmore Central FFA Officer Team attended this 2 day training. This year’s officer team includes Bailey Hafer, Austyn Nun, Caleb Nun, Ellie Janing, Alexis Saatmann, and Peyton Komenda.

The training sessions touched on officer job responsibilities, leadership expectations, and going the extra mile.  The Fillmore Central FFA officers worked with officers from other Nebraska FFA Chapters, sharing ideas, working together to solve problems, and building friendships.  They competed in different challenges with teams of their shared officer position. The highlights of the conference was meeting and working with State FFA officers.  These officers are outstanding leaders that had a great deal to share.  The officers also enjoyed the dance they held at the end of day 1.

Mr. VanDeWalle also spoke during the banquet, informing the audience about how  The Leadership Center was started by a group of ag teachers and is owned by the Nebraska Vocational Agriculture Foundation, which is a board comprised of ag teachers and other supporters. Mr. VanDeWalle serves on that board.

It was beneficial to have the team together to build on friendships and ideas to make our chapter strong.  Our officer team will have plenty of new ideas to improve our chapter in the coming school year.
