First grade has been learning about the five food groups, the benefits of each group, and what foods belong in each group. They completed the unit learning about healthy snacks and why we should eat them mindfully. Students had to rank the snacks in order from least to greatest with the amount of sugar each contained. The students were amazed with the amount of sugar in a chocolate shake. Mariah Newmyer, assistant extension educator presented the lesson.
