First graders took a field trip to the Fillmore County Extension office for a presentation on bees and honey. Brandy and Jodi taught about the three different kinds of bees and their jobs. We were able to touch honeycomb and wax. We saw how the honey was extracted from the comb and filtered to get pure honey. Everyone had the opportunity to taste honey and look at bees up close in a jar. Last, we saw the bees around their hives. It was a fa-bee-lous visit!
