Four Fillmore Central sophomore students had the chance to attend the sophomore pilgrimage at the state capital. They had the chance to meet many different elected officials, attend lunch at the governors mansion, and meet the governor. The kids had a great time!

The FC FBLA chapter was busy over Easter weekend. Officers and members helped hide candy at Heritage and hid eggs for the Easter egg hunt downtown. One special FBLA member was also seen around town in a certain holiday costume. :)

Alexis Schmidt, from the Fillmore County Extension, has been coming into 3rd grade to teach an embryology lesson to go along with their life cycle unit. A candling lesson was done with the students on day 10, and the students were able get a closer look at their eggs. They looked at their 12 eggs to see which ones were a winner, yolker, or quitter. From what they observe they have more winners than yolkers and quitters combine! They even saw some movement inside some of the eggs. The class hopes to have chicks hatching when they return from spring break!

Today Mrs. Patterson's Personal Finance class went on a house tour with Realtor Karla Jacobson of 2KS Realty. Karla started off the morning by providing the girls (and Mrs. Patterson) with some coffee from BrickRoad Boutique and cinnamon rolls from Jill's Sweet Shop. The group toured three homes in Geneva currently on the market/under contract and one new build. Karla took the girls through the homes as if they were potential buyers and pointed out some things to look for. She talked to them about the potential for increasing value and how at different stages of your life different homes will fit your needs. Karla even took the time to stage a house so the girls could see what a difference that makes. Later in the next week or so these students will hear from local banks and insurance agents about that part of the home buying process. Thank you to Karla and the home owners for letting these students in your homes!!
