Today, Mrs. Waldron’s English I class took a trip to the school pond for a change of scenery. In small groups, each student presented their wrap-up on a novel they read this semester. The wrap-up included a summary of their novel as well as various literary elements such as symbolism, conflict, mood, flashbacks, theme, etc. that they could apply to their novel. The wrap-up was a one-page visual of the independent novel they chose to read.

Ms. Bailey's Pride Group has been completing kindness projects each month this school year. During 1st semester, they helped Mr. Gangstad weed along the west sidewalk, sent get well cards to a middle school student, and sent Halloween treats to the nursing home. For the annual middle school food drive, the students earned money to buy food for Blue Valley by working in the concession stand during a middle school volleyball game and conducted a fundraiser, "Dollars for Denim". During the 2nd semester, the group made a "Be Kind to our Earth" poster, planned an Easter Egg hunt for the Success students, made and gave cheese ball "carrots" to the teachers, and helped with the weeding again. To finish this semester, they will participate in the middle school trash pick-up day.
