It is anticipated that there will be operational efficiencies realized if the middle school and high school are all under one roof. A reduction in operational costs could include utilities, facility maintenance, transportation, elimination of duplicated services, and staff reduction through attrition. A feasibility study completed in 2021 and other projections indicate a conservative operational savings of $650,000 per year once the project is complete. This could result in a 5-cent reduction in the General Fund tax asking each year. This could also result in lowering the Special Building Fund levy.

Today, the Fillmore Central Career and Technical Education (CTE) teachers successfully hosted their annual Reality Fair, an engaging event designed to provide freshmen with a realistic perspective on financial management. Community members generously volunteered their time to assist students as they navigated various financial responsibilities, simulating the experience of "paying" bills that included daycare, auto insurance, and other essential expenses, all based on the projected salaries of their future careers.
To enhance the authenticity of the experience, students communicated their desired future careers, which determined their monthly net income for the exercise. In addition, some students were assigned spouses and children to further simulate real-life financial scenarios. Each participant encountered a random life event, such as receiving a $1,000 bonus, experiencing a car accident, or incurring an unexpected dental expense, thereby illustrating the unpredictability of financial planning.
At the conclusion of the event, professionals and teachers shared valuable life lessons and personal stories, aiming to equip students with insights that will aid in their future financial decision-making.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the 18 community members whose contributions played a pivotal role in making this event a resounding success!

4th graders presented “how to” demonstrations on Friday morning. They were asked to choose a topic, write down detailed steps and either present or videotape their project.

A tremendous amount of time, public feedback, and work has gone into putting forth to voters what the board believes is the best solution for the district. According to the facility audit, if the bond doesn’t pass, we would likely need to spend $51,501,000 over the next 20 years to address urgent infrastructure needs, eliminate deficiencies in current buildings and systems, and provide upgrades to the three sites and downtown gym.

Thank you to Alexis Schmidt, Daniel Andrews, and Heather Mumm for coming to both 3rd grade classes to teach students about ways they can become involved in their communities through 4-H, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts

3rd grade loves building background knowledge before our stories. One way we’ve done so this semester is by having Brandie Conway teach us CPR and about calling 9-1-1. For our last story about community service, students made Valentine’s Day wreaths for residents at Fairview Manor. This week’s story about trying again had students building card towers and trying new ways vs giving up to find success.

No, bond funds will make up part of the additions and renovations at the elementary school. Most of the additions and renovations will be funded through the Qualified Capital Purchase Undertaking Fund (QCPUF) which allows money to be levied by a school board for Safety and Security Infrastructure projects and ADA projects. This money would be used to pay for the new front entrance and office area as well as the ADA bathrooms. The other parts of the project would use money from the bond in order to be built.
